SUMMER IN GERMANY
Tradition, Travel, and the Season of
Sunlight
As late spring transitions into
summer, warm weather spreads
north from the Bavarian Alps across
the German countryside. This shift
marks the beginning of a favorite
time of year, where the busy pace of
the spring months gives way to a
more relaxed atmosphere. From
outdoor cafes to garden spaces, the
season invites everyone to slow down
and enjoy the sunny afternoons that
define the German summer.
This period is notably marked by the
Sommerferien, a system of staggered six-week school breaks across
the different federal states. It is a
family-oriented time, with many
households taking advantage of the
break to travel. While some find
peace at the shores of the North or
Baltic Seas, many choose to migrate
south to the relatively close beaches
of neighboring countries. Whether
traveling abroad or simply enjoying
the shade of a local beer garden, the
focus remains on recharging and
spending time together.
We hope our entire membership has
a wonderful and restorative summer
season!
