Spruce Creek Anglers
Your Angler Club meetings are
starting back up this month. Like
normal, a lot of summer fish stories
will be told. But first, just look at
some of the believable Angler Club
Members catches this summer.
Bob Porkolab (photo left) says the
walleye fishing is red hot in
Northeaster Pennsylvania. Bob states
he caught 10 more just like the two
shown. Also, Rick Bode (photo right)
was catching white perch in the state
of Maine. Good looking walleye catch

Fountain Woodcarvers
Carving is a wonderful craft. American
Indians did it. Cowboys on the prairie
did it. Stone age people did it. So, we
didn’t invent it for sure. It takes you
somewhere you wish you were. Talk
about meditation. HOLY COW! We
copy some of Remington’s work and
some other great sculptors. It takes
time, but it is worth it. We really
surprise ourselves sometimes. You
really don’t know what you’re capable
of until you TRY IT! We would all help
you get started. We can give you
wood, tools and ideas, but in the end,
it’s all up to you. Don’t let us old
carvers scare you. We had to learn
and get started just like you.
To see your grandchild’s face when
you present them with something
you have carved is something you
can’t forget. My grandchildren are in
their thirties and they love grandpa’s
carvings.

Game Night
A great Success – a new club, meeting
most every Friday evening at 6 pm, in
the Meeting Room, last room on the
right at the south end (pool end) of
our Horizon building.
The objective is to simply meet as a
social group, playing court games
outside and/or card and board games
indoors. Outdoors we may play Bocci,
shuffleboard or cornhole, when the
weather cooperates. Indoors we
choose, at random, to play different
tile, card, and/or board games.
Participation is growing, but there is
always room for more folks. There are
no monies involved, only a bunch of
good sports looking to share some
time. Everyone is welcome, come join
us.
Don’t miss this fantastic meeting!
Grumbles House in Dunnellon will be
sharing with us HOW TO ADD COLOR
TO YOUR FALL AND WINTER
GARDENS. Their very knowledgeable
plant shop manager, Miss Timmy, who
is training to become a Master
Gardener, will be bringing loads of
plants and gorgeous containers that
will be available for sale. She will
share many valuable, interesting tips
with us. This is one of our favorite
places ever and it may become yours
as well. See you at 3 pm on September
16. You will love this presentation.

At noon on Sat. Sept. 19th, the Mayor
of Munich will tap the first keg, officially opening the Oktoberfest Celebration.
