C.E.R.T.
October brings us hope of relief
from summer’s heat and anticipation
of pleasant fall activities. Although
hurricane season will soon end, we
never know when a personal emergency will occur. Plan ahead by
keeping a printed list of prescriptions (with dosages and specific
instructions) and a two-week
minimum supply of your medications
on hand. Be sure your refill dates are
current, and each item is in its own
labeled container. Don’t forget
medical supplies such as syringes,
disposable pads, wound dressings,
gloves, bags and pump supplies. If
you need vitamins and medications
such as pain relievers, antacids, antiseptics, antihistamines, etc., include
these as well. All can be packed
quickly in Ziploc bags if needed for
an emergency.
FYI, if you live in a county under a
hurricane warning , or state of emergency/activation declared by the
Governor, Florida law allows you to
obtain a 30-day supply of current
prescriptions, regardless of the last
refill.
On October 24th, CERT-certified
members will have a joint training
opportunity with Stonecrest CERT.
The continuing ed class topic of
Traffic Control will be conducted by
a CERT Trainer from Marion County
EOC and held in the Horizon Center
parking area. Club members,
Assessors and residents are always
welcome to observe.
