With July ended, August is here with
more Florida summer heat. Two
seasons of softball concluded at Del
Webb field in the last days of July:
The In-House League (IHL) travel ball
and the Community Softball League
(CSL) with their Thursday playoffs
and championship games that on
ended July 30th.
The new CSL fall season starts up
again in early September, while Del
Webb Sun N Fun travel ball will begin
in early November. For a brief time,
the field will see little action.
The July 250th celebration of our
august 2026
and one resident began to cry. A
nurse consoled her and we learned
that the lady was originally from
Germany and had not heard that
carol in her native language in many
years, and it really touched her. You
never know what will touch the hearts
of those who hear you. So, join us if
you want a new, meaningful experience.

Table Tennis
Association (Ping Pong)
The Del Webb Softball club recently
took the time to honor our previous
President, Maryann Bulbelnik. (shown
here being presented a plaque for her
countless hours of dedication to
our club), by current President Terry
Johnson and current Vice President,
Kevin Cheeks.
Spirited Singers
We are a group of singers who get
together two Fridays a month from
September through May to sing at
nursing homes, senior retirement
communities, and the like from
Wildwood to Ocala and all in
between.
If you like to sing old songs to those
who really enjoy hearing them, join us
by coming to our first rehearsal of the
season on Tuesday, September 1 at 10
am in the Meeting Room of the
Horizon Center. All new members are
welcome to join in the fun. You would
probably be surprised how seldom
residents of these facilities have visitors of any kind – even relatives, so,
we are always welcomed by them.
For instance, during the Christmas
holidays, we always sing many carols
and seasonal songs. Several years
ago, the tenors and baritones of our
group learned to sing “Silent Night” in
its original language – German. So,
we sang “Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht”
Table tennis is a great recreational
sport. At Del Webb we have a great
facility in the Lake Vista Fitness
Center’s Exercise Studio. All equipment is provided by the center. There
are no fees or dues to pay.
Players of all skill levels are welcome.
We play on Tuesdays, Saturdays and
Sundays. For the more advanced
players we also play on Monday and
Thursday evenings. The times are
posted on the monthly calendar. We
play both singles and doubles formats.
Not only is this sport a good way to
exercise your body and help build
coordination but is also a great way
to socialize with other members of
our community. Both men and women
are welcome to play. The players’ age
range is wide, and age is not a barrier
to good competition. This is one of
the activities involved in the Senior
Games.
Come by and help keep in shape
while enjoying the relaxed competition with friendly and fun people. To
gain entry to the fitness center you
must have your Del Webb ID
If you need further information,
please contact John 407-209-8457.
