Bridge every day. Susan Tinkle is the
“Coordinator” for Social Bridge, and
she will be happy to answer any
questions that you may have.
Our playing times are:
Tuesday – 6:00 pm
Thursday Class – 12:30 pm
Thursday Bridge – 1:00 pm
Bridge tip of the day: It is often a
good idea to exhaust the opponents
of their trump, by playing your trump
suit (if you can safely do so) at the
beginning of your game. Please try to
make an extra effort to mark your
Bridge times on your calendar so that
you will not “double-book” your
“appointments” and leave Bridge out.
Have a wonderful month and remove
all of the trump from the opponents.

If you are a new resident, you may
not be familiar with the extreme
weather conditions affecting us in
Florida. Likewise, us long-time
Floridians may have become complacent with disaster preparedness. It
only takes one event to turn our world
upside down.
With downed trees and power lines,
we can be without electricity from a
few hours to several days. Hurricane
Irma (2017) left parts of Del Webb
without electricity for a week.
Keep on hand flashlights with extra
batteries, LED lanterns (large LED
units with a solar panel for charging
are available from Amazon and big
box stores). Candles, propane lanterns
or oil lamps are not recommended
due to fire hazard. A few portable
power banks will keep cellphones
functioning but be sure to have them
charged in advance. A hand-cranked
weather radio or battery-operated
radio is handy if cell towers and
internet are down. Disconnect appli-

ances and electronics to protect from
power surges when electricity is
restored.
Let’s all stay safe for an unexpected
event by being prepared. Ready.gov
has a wealth of disaster information
to help you. The next training meeting
will be on August 4th at 8:30 am in
the Card Room; guests are welcome.

Club 36
Club 36 was formed to build friendship and fun among our members and
the community. We meet for socials,
provide entertainment for our
members and the community, and at
the same time raise funds for charity.
Our activities range from potluck
dinners to game nights to trips to
local entertainment venues, and we
are always looking for new ideas.
The community is invited to join Club
36 for our Beach Party in the Ballroom
on August 22. Wear your beachy
attire, bring snacks and beverages,
and join us for some summer fun.
Music by DJ Diamond Dave. Tickets
will be on sale Mondays, Wednesdays,
and Fridays from 9 to 11 am in the
Horizon Center Lobby beginning July
22. Donation is $10. Don’t miss the
fun!

help those who need a little refresher.

Duplicate Bridge Club
Happy August to everyone from all of
the Duplicate Bridge people. It is hot
and uncomfortable, but please put
forth an extra effort to come to the
Club House and play bridge. Our
attendance has been a tad low, so we
really want to keep Mondays open for
Duplicate Bridge.
